Now that the dust has settled and the Lombardi trophy has been hoisted up into a sea of confetti (congrats Green Bay), the real competition began in earnest this morning. It was brutal. It was ugly. But as always, we overcame the incredible challenges before us and finally prevailed.
That’s right folks, it’s Captivation Media’s second annual Favorite Super Bowl Commercials as deemed by our staff. Each of us selected what we thought was the one commercial in this year’s line-up that stood out from the other ads – along with some brief comments why.
Jim’s Favorite – Doritos “Best Part” Super Bowl Commercial
Jim: I know it’s a weird one, but I always get a kick out of the wacky stuff Doritos puts out every year for the Super Bowl. Doritos has always had a great knack for commercials that stick in your head long after they’re viewed. I think that’s what I like about them the most!
Wes’ Favorite – Bridgestone Teaser “Reply All” Super Bowl Commercial
Wes: Having an IT background, I understand this poor guy’s sheer panic when he thinks he sent out God-knows-what to his entire contact list. I would advise him to get a gmail account and enable “undo send” in the labs area.
Eric’s Favorite – Chrysler “Eminem” Super Bowl Commercial
Eric: I liked this video the best because it was very effective at “relaunching” the Chrysler brand, and helping Americans to (once again) associate Detroit with some of the best cars in the world.
Jeff’s Favorite – Volkswagen “The Force” Super Bowl Commercial
Jeff: This Volkswagon / Darth Vadar mash-up had a fun concept and great payoff. What else can you say about an ad that features a cute child, a dog and one of the greatest villains in movie history?
